Philippe was stuck in C2 at 6450 m when
a storm came in and they had loads of snow coming down. The summit attempt was canceled and they are all back in Camp Base since the 13th. It seems like the snow will continue falling and since
they need a few days of good weather for the slopes to stabilize, Philippe doesn't think it is worth yet another 2 weeks waiting in Camp Base for an eventual attempt on just one of the three
summits he came to do. On BroadPeak (1 days walk further away and the 3rd summit he wanted to do) the teams have the same situation...
Like many other teams, he has decided going home.
He wants to thank all of you that have supported him on this adventure, but unfortunately the weather was not on their side this year.
Philippe est resté bloqué au Camp 2 à 6450 m quand une tempête de neige a arrêté leur ascension. Ils ont annulés leur tentative sur le Gasherbrum 1 sont de retour au Camp de Base
depuis le 13 au soir. La neige va continuer à tomber sans parler du vent fort qui souffle toujours en altitude.
Si la météo s'améliore il faudra encore plusieurs jours pour que les pentes se stabilisent et que les risques d'avalanches dimininuent. Il sera trop tard pour tenter l'enchainnement alors Philippe
a décidé de rentrer. Les autres équipes son dans la même situation...
Comme un grand nombre d'équipes, Philippe a décidé de rentrer à la maison.
Il remercie tous ceux qui l'ont soutinu dans cette aventure, mais malheuresement la météo n'était pas avec eux cette année.

This morning Philippe called from Base Camp. He feels great, eat much and is
very motivated. They have a weather window coming up so the plan is to make a summit bid on Gasherbrum 2:
11th- Camp 1, 12th - Camp 2, 13th - Camp 3 (his birthday) and the 14th - the summit.
If the good weather continues, they will only go down to Camp 1 that is the same for Gasherbrum 1 and 2. From there, they hope to make a summit bid on G1.

Philippe a téléphoné du Camp Base ce matin. Il est dans une forme splendide, mange bien et il est très motivé. La météo est bonne pour
plusieurs jours, alors le plan pour le Gasherbrum 2 est le suivant :
11: Camp 1, 12 : Camp 2, 13 : Camp 3 (son anniversaire) et le 14t le sommet.
S'il fait toujours beau après, ils vont descendre jusqu'au Camp 1 (commun au G1 et G2). De là, ils essayeront d'atteindre le sommet du G1.

Hi, we have news from Philippe in
Camp Base (6 July):
Serap and I are ready, the material is up on Camp 2 on Gasherbrum 2 but there is too much snow and avalanches to do a summit bid. Right now we have good weather so it is stabilizing. But we will
have to do the trail all the way to the summmit... The other problem is that we have a wind of 60km/h until the 12th. Tomorrow (7 July) we go up to Camp 1 and 2 to keep our already achieved
acclimatization, then we go back to Base Camp to wait for good weather. I am feeling good and we eat well so don't worry.
Bonjour, nous avons des nouvelles de Philippe du Camp Base (6 juillet) :
Serap et moi sommes prêt, le materiel a ete monte au C2 du G2 mais il y a trop de neige et de risque d'avalanche pour tenter le sommet. Ca se stabilise avec le beau temps actuel. Il restera
quand meme a faire la trace pour le sommet. L'autre probleme c'est qu'il y a 60 km/h de vent prévu jusqu'au 12. Demain (7/7) on monte au C1 ou au C2 pour garder l'acclimatation puis on resdescend
pour attendre un créneau. Je vais bien et on mange bien donc pas de souci.

The new forecasts predict somewhat good weather for the next few days but the jet stream might return to the mountain the 9th and 10th. Some more snow might fall during the 9th if forecasts are
correct and as of now the slopes on Gasherbrum 2 between Camp 2 and 3 are loaded with fresh snow.
They sit tight at Base Camp to let the slopes stabilize yet a few days. If Gasherbrum 2 needs more time to stabilize it is confirmed that they will try Gasherbrum 1 first.
La prévision de météo prévoit de belles journées mais avec une possibilité d'un retour du "jet stream" le 9 et 10. Plus de neige pour le 9 ce que n'est pas bien pour le Gasherbrum 2 dont les
pentes sont déjà chargée de neige fraîche, surtout entre les Camps 2 et 3.
Pour l'instant ils restent au Camp Base en espérant que les pentes vont se stabiliser. S'il faut plus de jours pour que le G2 se stabilise, ils vont essayer le G1 d'abord.
